multiple views

The notion of *Multiple Views* centers on the idea of showing data in separate views to allow people to see different parts of a data set separately, see the same data in different representations, or to let them lay out views manually to make sense of them, e.g., like people naturally do with documents on a table.

large high-resolution displays

Much of my research deals with visualizations on large displays. With large displays, it is possible to show one large visualization, or alternatively, many smaller visualization views.

interaction

Much of my research deals with interactive visualizations and particularly on interaction beyond desktop computing.

proxemics

A specific topic of research on intereaction has to do with proxemic inteaction, which is particularly relevant to consider in the context of large displays.

domain studies

I base many of my studies on working with people from different domains, where the interesting questions related to visualization appears in the intersection.

methodology

The approach to research is an important element of all research and I am happy to be part of a research community that have a strong focus on methodology, for example evidenced by strong theoretical contributions and recurring workshops and conferences on methodology (such as BELIV).
